Abstract:
In recent years, biodegradable polymers, especially those obtained from biorenewable resources, have become the subject of many scientific and industrial researches. The increasing environmental problems and demands of modern society are intensifying efforts in researching new polymer materials, which are environmentally friendly and functionally optimized. In order to improve the biodegradability properties of siloxane-based materials, ABA block copolymers consisting of poly(dimethylsiloxane) and poly(lactide) segments have been synthesized. This class of materials combines the biodegradability and strength of poly(lactide) with the elasticity and chemical stability of poly(dimethylsiloxane). The synthesis and characterization of copolymers with modified properties according to the requirements of the end application are presented in this paper. These materials are studied in various fields including biomedicine, materials engineering, and advanced packaging
